廖偉廷老師特殊專長為組織體外重建及巨噬細胞免疫調控。主要研究工作為結合基礎科學與臨床醫學領域，探討疾病的分子機轉及抑制策略。廖老師任教至今有超過50篇SCI國際學術論文發表，包含多篇IF超過5分的高影響力論文，及多篇期刊領域排頂尖的論文。在科學上的貢獻包括: (1)以巨噬細胞免疫平衡為中心，探討癌症及發炎疾病之基因調控分子機制，並在體外以組織微環境模式重建這些調控。(2)將上述分子機制，應用在開發皮膚癌，痛風，及感染性疾病之防治策略。
