KMU Biotechnology Hosts Zebrafish Microinjection Workshop for Hsin Hsing Senior High School Students
The Department of Biotechnology at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) welcomed 34 students from the Mathematics and Science Experimental Class of Hsin Hsing Senior High School on May 14, 2026, for a special academic visit and hands-on learning experience.
The program began with an introduction to the department by Professor Wei-Ting Liao, Chair of the Department of Biotechnology, followed by a biotechnology lecture delivered by Professor Wang-Da Liu. Students learned about biopharmaceutical development, disease research, and the important role of zebrafish in biomedical studies.
A key highlight of the visit was the zebrafish embryo microinjection workshop. Under the guidance of faculty members and research staff, students gained hands-on experience with microinjection techniques and toured the department’s zebrafish core facility.
Through lectures, laboratory visits, and practical training, the event provided students with valuable exposure to biotechnology research and inspired their interest in life sciences. The visit also strengthened educational exchange between KMU and Hsin Hsing Senior High School.
